In this thesis we investigate dark matter, a form of matter that so far has only been detected by gravitational interactions, and baryogenesis, the origin of visible matter in our Universe. We work in the framework of supersymmetry, a hypothetical extension of the Standard Model of elementary particles. Combining data from astrophysical and collider experiments, we constrained some of the unknown parameters of the minimal model. We also investigated the mechanism that created visible matter in the early Universe and classified the possible cosmological histories by identifying their common features.
