This thesis examines the mechanics of cancer across three different length-scales. In the first study, a cellular level computational model of confined migration is developed to quantify intracellular stresses and predict its biological consequences. In the second study, a sub-cellular level model of the cancer glycocalyx to probe its role in confined migration is created. In the third study, a predictive model of tumor nodule embedded in healthy tissue is created. This could be used to train laparoscopic surgeons. Collectively, this thesis contributes to our understanding of cancer mechanics during invasion and cancer detection based on altered cancer mechanics.
