Efficient Utilization of LEDs and LDs for Illumination and Visible Light Communication (VLC)
thesis
posted on 2018-04-12, 06:42 authored by FAHAD BIN ZAFARThis thesis addresses the shortcomings of visible light communication (VLC), which is an emerging form of wireless communication that simultaneously provides illumination and communication considering key properties associated with quality of illumination. By considering light emitting diodes (LEDs) that are widely used and laser diodes (LDs), which are expected to become popular, the aspects of their separate and combined use are investigated experimentally, analytically and in simulation. The superior performance of the proposed systems are quite promising for practical indoor lighting systems and can be considered as an added feature that provides high quality illumination and high speed communication.
