Crane Payload Localisation: Mid-Air Alignment of Curtain Wall Modules

It is difficult to precisely locate and control a large and heavy glass panel while it is held suspended high in the air by a crane. In high-rise building construction, big prefabricated wall panels must be aligned to the side face of the building with millimetre precision. The conventional methods are unsafe and inefficient — the crane driver can't see what they are doing, and the workers risk being struck, crushed, or falling from a height. Brandon's work contributes to developing the core processes and technologies that are required to make automated localisation of the crane borne panel viable.
