Organo-lead halide perovskite solar cells have sparked considerable attention as one of the most promising next-generation solar cells due to their promising performance. However, it is well known that perovskites solar cells exhibit electrical hysteresis, chemical instability and are difficult to scale. Thus, further advances are still required to realise their commercialisation. In this thesis, the role of composition, microstructure and interface engineering of suitable hole and electron transporting layers for perovskite solar cells are explored. These works help to provide a deeper understanding of the operation of perovskite solar cells to enable high efficiency and stability devices.
