Assembling modern water: The hydrosocial politics of water and development in the Mahaweli Development Project, Sri Lanka

This thesis examines the design, implementation, and outcomes of mega water projects carried out in developing countries. It reveals that project planners have different ways of interpreting and engaging with water when compared to project beneficiaries. These differences lead to project designs mutating upon being implemented, producing unforeseen consequences to all involved.
