This collection contains the accompanying audio and audio-visual files (and one image file) as referenced in the forthcoming book Performing the Arts of Indonesia: Malay Identity and Politics in the Music, Dance and Theatre of the Riau Islands.
The illustrated book is a pioneering study of the traditional and
contemporary Malay performing arts of Indonesia's Riau Islands, widely
known by its acronym Kepri. Its 15 authors introduce the music, poetry,
dance, martial arts, and theatre in the context of Malay concepts of
place, cosmological and performative space, and memory codes that guide
the artists' spontaneous performance styles.
