This thesis examines transatlantic antislavery networks from 1830 to 1865. It explores how both private and public elements of reform activity coalesced to shape the transatlantic antislavery movement in the mid-nineteenth century by focusing on the myriad relationships established by British and American abolitionists from 1830 to 1865.
