This program of research explored the organisational determinants of work-related road traffic injury in light vehicle fleets. The landscape of risk management in workplace road safety in Australia and organisational practices that influence safe driver behaviour were investigated. Key findings included that safe driving is influenced by factors at multiple levels, including senior managers, supervisors and individual fleet drivers and workplace road safety is not well integrated within current risk management practices or operational activities within organisations. The findings encourage reform in prevention approaches to workplace road safety, where intervention needs to focus at the driver, employer and regulatory levels.
