What did you do in their war? Roles and agency in transnational support for armed movements

thesis
posted on 2022-04-06, 05:09 authored by ANDREW WILLIAM ZAMMIT
In the majority of armed conflicts since the end of the Cold War, at least one side has mobilised support from non-state actors located abroad. To contribute to scholarly knowledge on these transnational dimensions of violent political conflict, in the hope of assisting efforts towards peace and security, this thesis provides a new theoretical understanding of roles and agency in transnational support for armed movements. It empirically grounds this contribution through a mixed methods case study of Islamic State’s mobilisation of transnational support from within Australia between 2013 and 2018.
