In this thesis I examine Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari’s philosophies to understand the transmission of forces between the artwork and the viewer within an exhibition context. Drawing on Deleuze and Guattari’s assertion that art is a ‘capturing of forces’, I think through their use of the concepts of immanence, forces and sensation to conceptualise a curatorial approach that is capable of accounting for all of the forces within the encounter with an exhibition.
