War and Remembrance in Regional Australia

thesis
posted on 2018-06-26, 04:25 authored by LAURA KATE JAMES
This thesis uses four case studies to chart the development of war and remembrance in regional Australia over the period of one hundred years. Drawing on a number of themes relating to Anzac remembrance that are particularly noticeable in regional areas such as identity and exclusion, war memorials and remembrance practice, war memory, and the influence of military bases and incidents of war at home, this research aims to extend what is known about the regional experience of war, and evaluate why remembrance practices differ from place to place.
