Vocal cord dysfunction/inducible laryngeal obstruction: alternative and novel diagnostic and treatment pathways

thesis
posted on 2024-01-16, 00:23 authored by JOO HOE KOH
Vocal cord dysfunction (VCD) is increasingly recognised as a frequently missed diagnosis. This has hampered progress in disease understanding and treatment development. We hypothesised that novel diagnostic and treatment pathways can improve care for people with VCD. The aims were to explore dynamic computed tomography larynx as an alternative diagnostic modality, and to review current clinical management practices. My research provides novel data for CT larynx as an alternative diagnostic test. My research also validated simple effective modifications for the MDT model of care. My randomized controlled trial, though unsuccessful, provided valuable lessons to guide future directions in research.
