Vegetarianism, Veganism, and Eating Disorders: Understanding Implications for Assessment and Diagnosis

thesis
posted on 2023-12-10, 08:58 authored by COURTNEY PAIGE MCLEAN
This thesis examined the measurement and theoretical underpinnings of eating disorders and disordered eating behaviours in people who follow a vegetarian and vegan diet. It identified that vegetarians and vegans have unique eating behaviours and attitudes which require specialised screening approaches to evaluate potential eating pathology. This thesis offers a platform for future research to build upon to develop informed best practice guidelines to address the most appropriate way to support vegetarians and vegans seeking eating disorder support.
