Using an L-band radiometer for moisture measurement in road construction

thesis
posted on 2023-10-04, 00:44 authored by THI MAI NGUYEN
This thesis addresses the critical challenge of providing real-time spatial variation of soil moisture during road pavement construction. The primary research objective is to develop an innovative technique that utilizes an L-band radiometer to generate soil moisture maps during the compaction process. By leveraging this information, engineers and contractors can adjust the moisture condition to ensure optimal uniformity, thereby enhancing the quality and durability of the road. This endeavour not only paves the way for the advancement of a more efficient and cost-effective technique but also presents a promising opportunity for commercialization.
