Understanding the impact of anaesthetic agents on cancer progression
thesisposted on 2021-10-08, 02:47 authored by Julia Kelly
Surgery requires anaesthesia and is a vital component of the oncological management of solid tumours. Evidence suggests that anaesthetic agents used in the perioperative period may support the growth of minimal residual disease leading to cancer progression. Modulating these effects has the potential to limit metastasis and improve cancer outcomes. This thesis examines the impact of anaesthetic technique on long term cancer outcomes through a body of preclinical and clinical work.
