It is critical that educators are equipped to respond effectively to students and school communities impacted by trauma and toxic stress. Findings from this body of work indicate the positive impact trauma-responsive socio-cultural and relational practices at school can have on students, parents and caregivers, educators, and community services. Incorporating the voice of diverse school stakeholders, this thesis posits that we need an educational paradigm shift toward connectivity and collective care that is equity focused, restorative, and empowering.
