Understanding the Factors That Shape the Pedagogical Use of Digital Technology by Mathematics Teachers

thesis
posted on 2022-10-11, 05:19 authored by BENJAMIN DAMIEN ZUNICA
This research centred on the factors that influenced Maths teachers’ decision-making about the use of digital technology in the classroom. A range of factors were found such as teacher knowledge, the students to be taught, traditional teaching methods and assessment in Maths and time pressures exerted by administrative demands and syllabus requirements. Four teachers’ decision-making was examined in-depth and a flowchart was developed that showed how factors combined with each other to determine whether the teacher would integrate technology into their teaching. The flowchart is designed to help teachers and leaders appreciate the conditions that are conducive to technology integration.
