Engaging people with their bodies through play can benefit health, wellbeing and help players get to know their bodies better. However, how to design games that engage people with the inside of their body, such as their intestines, is relatively unknown. This thesis introduces ingestible sensors – sensors that can be swallowed – to design ‘ingestible play’. The thesis presents human-computer interaction guidance for the design of such games, contributing to a more playful and humanised technology future.
