Turbulence is ubiquitous in life, presented here is a novel approach to turbulence tomography using a net as surrogate to turbulence. As a prerequisite, a 3D time-series reconstruction method for nets is developed. This system; Surface Transient Topology Reconstruction (STTR) reconstructs the surface with >98% accuracy. Using STTR, a net subjected to fractal-grid-induced turbulence is found to correlate within 5% and 6% of numerical studies done in literature for global and local turbulence intensity respectively. Finally, a comparative study using STTR found that Square Fractal Grids present significant upsides over Regular Square Grids generating up to 9× stronger turbulence.
