Treatment personalisation strategies: improving disease outcomes in multiple sclerosis

thesis
posted on 2023-12-13, 22:19 authored by MICHAEL LING XIAO ZHONG
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune demyelinating condition of the central nervous system with a highly variable prognosis. A range of disease-modifying therapies can be used to reduce disease activity, but success differs between therapy and between individuals. Delay to effective therapy results in greater risk of disability accumulation, and more accurate approaches to prognostication and use of therapies are needed. This thesis includes analyses using genetic data, integrated with clinical and treatment data from the global MSBase Registry. It explores the variability between people with MS, particularly in their use and response to selected disease modifying therapies.
