Metaphors have always been used to explain and understand the process of translation. This thesis examines the process of translation through the metaphor of performance, by presenting a translation of several excerpts from Yukio Mishima's 1959 novel Kyōko no Ie [Kyōko’s House], along with discussion of performative aspects of Mishima's life and of the source text.
