Transient changes in the sense of presence: exploring dissociative experiences

thesis
posted on 2024-12-12, 11:28 authored by Aniko Kusztor
The thesis explores dissociative experiences in the general population. Through three empirical studies, we aimed to identify behavioural and neural correlates of specific dissociative symptoms. The first study examines altered visual perceptions in depersonalization and derealization, investigating the relationship between perceptual realness and vividness. The second study explores the impact of emotional numbing across various emotional categories. The third study uses EEG and fMRI to link sleep intrusions to attentional disengagement. These studies not only contribute distinct insights into dissociative experiences but also address methodological challenges, offering directions for future research.
