Autoimmune diseases are common and clinically diverse inflammatory conditions that pose a significant health burden worldwide. Currently available treatments for these diseases are generally non-specific and offer limited effectiveness. Therefore, there is an urgent need for new therapeutic approaches to address the unmet needs of patients. This PhD research introduces innovative strategies to treat inflammation associated with autoimmune diseases by targeting disease-causing immune cells using monoclonal antibody therapies and administering a "medicinal diet" that releases high amounts of beneficial short-chain fatty acids in the gut. These novel therapeutic approaches hold great promise for effectively managing autoimmune inflammatory diseases.
