Anxiety disorders are highly prevalent, significantly impact people’s lives and contribute to significant economic burden. Transdiagnostic cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is an effective treatment for anxiety disorders, based on a foundation of evidence-based practice, and the latest research about anxiety. This research included a comparison of the effects of previous transdiagnostic CBT clinical trials with "standard" CBT trials, to see if it was more effective. The findings favoured transdiagnostic CBT. It also included the results of a recent trial using transdiagnostic CBT for people with anxiety, and tests of the underlying factors that might mediate change in anxiety during treatment.
