Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most prevalent neurodevelopmental condition worldwide. Despite this, there remain numerous environmental and personal barriers precluding many families from accessing suitable diagnostic and interventional services. This thesis explored the strengths and limitations of commonly used screening measures for ADHD and emotional and behavioural wellbeing in neurodivergent children and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. The findings highlight the need for assessment tools that can adequately identify and assist in differentiating between subclinical autistic and ADHD traits in neurodivergent children, and capture psychological constructs consistent with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander conceptualisations of emotional and behavioural wellbeing.
