thesis
posted on 2023-09-12, 05:21 authored by PRIYA SHARMA AMARJIT SINGHTrafficking of migrant workers for forced labour is an egregious violation of human rights and a global phenomenon that affects millions of vulnerable people. Malaysia is known to be a destination, source and transit country for trafficked men, women and children subjected to conditions of forced labour. Using the doctrinal legal research methodology, this PhD study evaluates the adequacy of the Malaysian legislative framework in addressing the problem. The aim of this PhD study is to identify any gaps, uncertainties, or inadequacies in the domestic legislative framework and to recommend necessary reforms to strengthen and improve Malaysia's legislative framework to combat trafficking of migrant workers for forced labour.
