This thesis aims to apply the Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) technology and platooning concept to enhance traffic signal control in CAVs and mixed traffic transportation networks, thereby improving traffic performance. We divide the thesis into two distinct study directions. In the first direction, we propose an optimal decentralized signal control for platooning in a network of CAVs. In the second direction, we propose a bi-level optimization control framework to jointly optimize CAV-led platoon trajectories and signal control in mixed traffic transportation networks.
