Towards multi-SAR-mission retrieval of soil moisture

Accurate soil moisture is expected to improve hydrological applications, weather and climate forecasting, and agricultural management. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is a promising approach for soil moisture monitoring, due to its all-weather capability, relatively low cost, high spatial resolution and straightforward relationship with soil moisture. However, its relatively low revisit (2 weeks) restricts the range of applications, with a promising solution being the joint use of multiple current and future SAR missions. Therefore, this research is focused on developing a methodology that can combine multi-SAR-mission to derive reliable soil moisture with high spatial (tens m) and temporal resolution (2-3 days).
