Towards Immersive Geovisualisation: Investigating Representation, Workspace, and User Interaction for Multiscale Visual Exploration of Geospatial Data

Advancements in immersive display technologies have resulted in a growing interest in immersive analytics, a research field that investigates the use of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) to facilitate engaging, effective, and embodied data analysis. Researchers have increasingly explored the use of geospatial data for geographic visualisation (also known as geovisualisation). This thesis argues that this intersection between immersive analytics and geovisualisation opens up an exciting opportunity to establish immersive geovisualisation as a new research field, and presents an exploration of representation, workspace, and user interaction factor of immersive geovisualisation in the context of multiscale visual exploration.
