Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a debilitating mental health condition that is difficult to treat. This thesis presents electroencephalographic findings of OCD to broaden our knowledge on the pathophysiology of the disease. Furthermore, a pilot randomised, double-blind, sham-controlled clinical trial was conducted to investigate the use of home-based, individualised transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) in the treatment of OCD. The findings provide promising evidence towards the efficacy of tACS in OCD and paves the way to larger studies to ultimately design more effective and reliable applications that offer adequate relief to those affected with OCD.
