The toxic effects of lead on the freshwater green algae Chlorella and Scenedesmus
thesis
posted on 2017-02-26, 22:55 authored by Dao, Ly Hai ThiThis thesis examines the effects of lead on two freshly-isolated freshwater green algae from the genera Chlorella and Scenedesmus. Effects on growth, photosynthetic characteristics and macromolecular composition were dependent on the duration of treatment and species as well as on the pH of the environment. The thesis contributes to our understanding of the ways in which heavy metals can affect the algae that are the basis of aquatic food chains.
