This thesis investigated the ability of stem cells coming from the bone marrow and a human hormone, called relaxin, to reduce kidney scarring and protect the blood vessels in kidney disease. The findings of this thesis show a beneficial effect of combining the stem cells and relaxin therapy to reduce kidney scarring and increase the ability of cells obtained from kidney disease patients to form new blood vessels.
