My thesis aims to explore how sex differences in evolutionary processes and genetic architecture impact the evolution of local adaptation. I used patterns of sex-specific clinal divergence among Australian Drosophila melanogaster populations to infer patterns of sex-specific selection over traits known to be involved in the process of local adaptation. I then focused on the genetic basis of local adaptation and the potential role of the X-chromosome in the process.
