The role of the disulfide linkage in insulin and conotoxin peptides: a Molecular Dynamics and Quantum Mechanical investigation

thesis
posted on 2023-07-28, 11:40 authored by MICHAEL IAN ROBINSON
This thesis is a computational investigation into an important part of how proteins are held together by a specific bond, and why this bond can be changed to give better diabetes treatments and better painkillers. It identifies why some of these different bonds make biological function worse by damaging the structure of the protein, and it provides evidence for why some of these different bonds give better function by increasing flexibility or adopting specific structures.
