The multifaceted role of employee assistance programs in human resource management in mainland China

This study extends the field of EAP research from three aspects. First, considering the ambiguity of definitions of the relationship between EAP and HRM and the lack of integration of existing knowledge, I undertook a systematic literature review on the concept of EAP from a management perspective. Second, given the knowledge gap in EAP research in China, I present the current state of research and practice of EAPs in China through a state-of-the-art review. Third, to better understand the efficacy of EAPs and unveil their strategic role, I undertake mixed-method empirical research with a sequential qualitative-quantitative approach.
