Identity is a mystery of how people become themselves, but one deserving of exploration. This study applies identity theories to present the overall picture of the psychosocial make-up of Chinese migrant nurses. Chinese nurses have their original values from China, and migration brings about many factors contributing to their identity construction, including different cultures and values, different managements, and different resources. Understanding the experience of Chinese migrant nurses based on insights into their identity is critical to any consideration of improving support for them, and thus ensuring the quality and safety of health care.
