thesis

This thesis explores the safety and effectiveness of pool exercises for people with Parkinson’s Disease and found that they had a positive impact on balance. People with Parkinson’s Disease reported that they enjoyed exercising in a group with others and identified some barriers to attending such therapy. Pool exercises are not routinely used when treating people with Parkinson’s Disease and several barriers to using pool exercises were also identified from a physiotherapist perspective. Clinical practice guidelines need to be updated to include information on pool exercises in this population.
