The Ventromedial Hypothalamic Integration of Energy State and Behaviour

thesis
posted on 2023-02-13, 22:09 authored by SASHA MELANIE RAWLINSON
Behaviour is often affected by changes in metabolism and energy state. This idea is illustrated by the colloquial phrase "feeling hangry", describing a state of anger caused by acute hunger or energy deprivation. This thesis examines how a region of the brain known as the ventromedial hypothalamus integrates both metabolic and behavioural functions.
