The Therapeutic Targeting of Paediatric High-Grade Gliomas

thesis
posted on 2023-04-18, 03:12 authored by Dasun L. B. Fernando
Paediatric high-grade gliomas (pHGGs) are a deadly cancer of the brain which affects a very small group of the youngest and most vulnerable members of society. While many cancers have seen improvements in overall survival, this has not been the case for pHGGs. The research outlined within this thesis has investigated different strategies to combat this deadly disease by targeting disease specific features identified in cell lines isolated from pHGGs. The outcomes revealed ways of improving the effectiveness of treatment and overcoming treatment resistant features common in pHGGs to allow these patients the opportunity of living a disease-free life.
