This thesis investigates coherent structures in wall-bounded turbulent flows subjected to adverse pressure gradient with zero-mean skin friction by studying turbulent Couette-Poiseuille flow with zero mean skin friction on the stationary plate. With the help of direct numerical simulations, this research has investigated the appropriate scaling, the mechanism by which the turbulence is sustained, the characteristics of coherent structures and the mean skin friction generation, which has provided new insights into the effect of adverse pressure gradient on turbulent wall-bounded flow structures.
