The Structural and Stratigraphic Evolution of the Vera Zaitun Basin, Offshore Northwest Java; A Petroleum Systems Perspective

thesis
posted on 2021-05-10, 01:14 authored by ADRIANA LAUREN TRAVIATI
The Vera Zaitun region, located in Offshore Northwest Java, Indonesia, has experienced a complex geologic history over the last 72 million years, since the Late Cretaceous. This research focuses on the structural development of the Zaitun basin, the sediments it has preserved, and discusses the existence of a newly discovered basin, Zaitun North, present in the study region. These basins represent some of the oldest in Indonesia. The way these basins developed, and what sediments they have preserved is vitally important for understanding the developmental history of the broader Indonesian region, and for discovering important energy resources within these basins.
