This thesis examines the connection between the archaeology and linguistics of the spread of Indo-Europeans and their languages into Europe. It provides a detailed study of the archaeological cultures of eastern Europe and the Caucasus, and proposes the likely Indo-European language groups to be associated with them, and it then presents scenarios for how these developed over time, with an important role played by trade relationships.
