While many people think of evolution as a long term process, invasive species can evolve within their new habitats on a scale observable within human lifetimes. However, the genetic processes governing this evolution is still unclear. Throughout this thesis, I used both historic and modern sequences from populations of the noxious common ragweed to uncover and examine the large and powerful genetic agents involved in its recent evolution.
