The Role of Solute Clusters in the Mechanical Response of Al Alloys

High-strength Al alloys are used extensively in aerospace and marine applications and increasingly used in automobiles to reduce the weight of structural components. This thesis studies the role of solute clusters in the mechanical response of Al alloys, such as the effects on strength, ductility and fatigue resistance.
