The Role of Mindfulness in Shaping Green Consumption Behavior: A Comprehensive Investigation

thesis
posted on 2024-03-26, 01:20 authored by SHAMIM AHMED KHAN
Green consumption, the practice of making eco-friendly choices, is increasingly gaining popularity. This thesis examines how mindfulness, an intrinsic capacity of the mind, can encourage such choices. The thesis includes three studies. Study 1, a bibliometric study, reviews how mindfulness is used in green consumption research, identifying key themes and contributors. In contrast, Studies 2 and 3, using the Self-Determination Theory, examine how trait and state mindfulness influence green consumption through cross-sectional and experimental approaches, respectively. Overall, the three studies contribute to a better understanding of how mindfulness can shape green consumption behavior.
