The Role of Inflammasome-Associated Innate Immune Receptors in Gastric Cancer
thesis

Gastric cancer is one of the deadliest types of cancer, with minimal development of effective therapeutics for patients in the past decade. Several factors influence the development of gastric cancer, including inflammation and local immune responses at the site of the cancer. This thesis identifies innate immune regulators that mediate the initiation and progression of gastric cancer controlled through a multiprotein complex termed an inflammasome. These findings may be used to develop novel targets for diagnostics, prognostics and potentially druggable targets.
