thesis
posted on 2020-12-08, 02:37 authored by JACK ELLIOT CLARKE
This thesis explores the ways in which users remix audiovisual content in contemporary online culture. The thesis considers the properties of remix videos as texts in their own right, as well as the various roles that remix plays in the lives of the people who generate and sustain remix culture. Specifically, this thesis analyses three different formats of remix video – supercuts, YouTube Poops and GIFs – and also explores the ways in which remix culture is being assimilated into the mainstream.
