The JNK signalling pathway in renal ischaemia reperfusion injury

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a serious condition which can be anticipated in situations like cardiac surgery. This thesis identifies the JNK1 enzyme as a key driver of cell death and inflammation in acute kidney injury. Pre-clinical studies showing protection with pharmacological JNK inhibition raise the potential for clinical trials.
