thesis
posted on 2019-10-15, 03:13 authored by RADHA WAGLEThe overarching aim of this research is to analyse processes for the inclusion of women and the role of women employees in the Nepalese forestry bureaucracy. The study uses a ‘gender lens’ drawn from Feminist Institutionalism (FI). The thesis adopts qualitative approach to research by collecting data through interviews and focus group discussions. The findings of the research revealed that forest bureaucracy in Nepal is largely male-dominated in terms of organizational culture, formal and informal institutions, structure and agency and power relations. Some alternative avenues for the development of a women-inclusive forest bureaucracy are recommended.
